January 21, 2010 Aloha, Members of Unity Church of Hawai‘i, I wish you all a New Year filled with happiness, peace and prosperity. We have so much to be thankful for during the past year. Our church has continued to grow in amazing and wonderful ways that touch people's lives. During the early part of the year, your Board of Trustees and Rev. Sky St. John have come up with a vision statement that strongly affirms who we are and what we strive for as a church: Unity Church of Hawai‘i is a spiritual center that elevates global consciousness, nurtures personal transformation, fosters co-creative relationships, and demonstrates compassionate service to the world. This vision statement has manifested itself in countless ways. Our reach has extended well beyond the physical boundaries of the church as it shines light all over the world through our live webstreaming and podcasts of excellent Sunday services. Our Wednesday Prayer, Healing and Meditation services continue to provide comfort to many. Our many workshops and support groups continue to nurture personal growth and transformation. Last year, our Spiritual Enrichment and Education program offered 27 classes, more than any Unity Church. We launched and pioneered the Ohana Church Network which strives to support fledgling churches and their spiritual leaders so that they become established Unity churches. We put into action the congregation's expressed desire that we strengthen our connection with and serve the community better. Our Ho‘opono program served 6,000 meals to people in need; and thousands of meals to those with HIV/AIDS as well as people at the Institute of Human Services. Our Makana program has given thousands of dollars to both local and international charities. And yes, we have done so much more with the gifts and tithes that you have generously provided. I salute Rev. Sky for his spiritual guidance and leadership skills and the church's competent staff for their hard work year-round. We are so blessed to be part of such a dynamic and vibrant church home. I invite you to attend our annual meeting on Sunday, February 21 at 1:00 p.m. Here, you will learn about the church's year-end accomplishments, successes and challenges. We will be providing a report on the financial status of the church. More importantly, we will be electing three new members of the Board of Trustees. All five candidates, whose bios are attached with this letter, are fully deserving to serve as your trustees. I look forward to seeing you then. Much aloha and mahalo, Daniel de Castro » Read about the five candidates for the Board of Trustees |
